The Canadian Dental Hygienists Association Celebrates World No Tobacco Day
News Release
For Immediate Release
May 31, 2005, Ottawa: The
Canadian Dental Hygienists Association joins together with 14,000
dental hygienists across Canada in taking a stand against tobacco use.
Dental hygienists are strong members of the health professional team
providing advice to clients on tobacco use. Dental hygienists have a
key role in assisting clients to quit, since visible oral changes are a
powerful motivator to stop using tobacco.
A survey shows that approximately 60% of
the public expect dental hygienists to provide this advice. Ask your
Dental Hygienist about tips for quitting — they are in an excellent
position to talk to you about quitting, since they are experts in oral
disease prevention and health promotion.
